I've been very fortunate to visit Bonneville Speed Week twice as a spectator and amateur photographer. Nothing can fully prepare you for the otherworldly environment that exists in the salt flats of north west Utah. The blinding light and engulfing August heat are part of it, sure, but the sights and sounds of predominantly homebuilt cars blasting across a dry salt lake bed are something every gearhead should experience at least once in their lives. My library of images have influenced my "Speed & Style" illustration series, but also act as a constant reminder to start planning my next visit.
